It was a good run, but the Lucas Cubs unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They lost to Willard at home by a decisive 72-55 margin. Lucas has struggled against Willard recently, as their matchup on Saturday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Lucas' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aidan Culler, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. Culler is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabe Porter, who scored 13 points.
Lucas' loss ended a 14-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-4. As for Willard, their victory was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-3.
Lucas has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Clear Fork at 7:30 p.m. on February 13th. One thing working in Lucas' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven matchups. Willard's road trip will continue as they head out to face Margaretta at 7:30 p.m. on February 16th. Margaretta has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 272 points over their last four matchups.
