4A Region 2 recap October 22, 2013
Charles Henderson extended the longest winning streak in 4A Region 2 this week by beating Ashford, 50-0. The victory was the eighth in a row for the Trojans.
Beauregard led the league in scoring this week by notching 70 points on Alabama Christian Academy. Walker Meadows threw for 238 yards and 3 touchdowns and ran for 94 yards during the win.
Meadows provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Hornets topped the Eagles. Meadows' favorite target this week was Tykwane Meniefield, who caught 5 passes for 165 yards.
Austin Ingram threw for 167 yards and 5 touchdowns. He went 11-15 with 1 interception.
Sam Moody made the biggest impact on defense this week as Alabama Christian Academy lost to Beauregard. The 5-foot-8 senior recorded 1 fumble.
Ingram put up the best numbers in passing as Charles Henderson bested the Yellowjackets. Ingram's favorite target this week was John Johnson, who caught 6 passes for 116 yards.
Bill Moore's team's Chandler Taylor and Hudson Pugh have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Taylor has thrown for 2,358 yards this season, while Pugh has 28 catches for 625 yards. Frank Moody from St. James leads the league in rushing with 1,124 yards.
An important game coming up in 4A Region 2 this week will be when Tallassee takes on Smitty Grider's team. As it stands, the Tigers are in second, while the Hornets are in third.
Tallassee made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,367 from 2,494. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 49-17 victory over the Trojans last week.
