Baseball Recap: Calvary Christian Makes It Four in a Row at Home

Calvary Christian barely beat Dayton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Calvary Christian blew past Dayton 16-1 on Thursday. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by ten runs or more this season.

Luke Corbin was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Cal Ruwe was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Josh Ruwe, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Calvary Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .536 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Calvary Christian pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Dayton, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calvary Christian will venture away from home to take on Campbell County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Dayton, they will head out to face off against Conner at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
