The Palmer Trinity Falcons fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Archbishop Carroll Bulldogs on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 66-63. Palmer Trinity's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Palmer Trinity lost, one person who can't be blamed is Graham Yanowitch. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Yanowitch is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last 11 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Harrison Miles, who scored 11 points along with five assists and two steals.
Even though they lost, Palmer Trinity smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Archbishop Carroll only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Archbishop Carroll to victory, but perhaps none more so than Luka Vlahovic, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Diego Astudillo, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Palmer Trinity's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Archbishop Carroll, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Palmer Trinity will take on Pine Crest at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Archbishop Carroll, they will head out on the road to challenge iMater Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
