After a string of three wins, the Aucilla Christian Warriors's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 43-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Meadowbrook Academy. Aucilla Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Meadowbrook Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Despite the defeat, Aucilla Christian had strong showings from Ethan Bass, who scored 14 points along with eight assists and four steals, and Benjamin Faglie, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. Faglie has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Conrad, who scored five points along with three blocks.
Meadowbrook Academy found their leader in underclassman Gaige Daugherty, who scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Daugherty has scored all season. Orion Grayer was another key contributor, scoring two points along with seven blocks and six rebounds.
Aucilla Christian's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Meadowbrook Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
Aucilla Christian will head out on the road to face off against Redeemer Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Redeemer Christian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 192 points over their last three contests. As for Meadowbrook Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Cedar Key at 6:00 p.m. Cedar Key comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
