The Independence Wildcats were the 44-39 winner over the Lewisburg Patriots when they last played one another back in November of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Independence lost to Lewisburg at home by a decisive 52-35 margin on Tuesday. Independence has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Lewisburg's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Allison Irby, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Irby has scored at least 25% of Lewisburg's points. Allie Carroll was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with 9 rebounds.
Independence's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Lewisburg, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Independence will take on North Panola at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. North Panola's defense has only allowed 30 points per game this season, so Independence's offense will have their work cut out for Independence. Lewisburg will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Hernando at 6:00 p.m. on December 1st.
