Knightstown is 7-1 against Winchester Community since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Panthers will face off against the Falcons at 6:00 p.m. Knightstown is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Winchester Community will be up against a hot Knightstown team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over Blue River Valley on Monday.
C Gossett tossed a big game, striking out 11 batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk).
At the plate, C Gorman was a standout: he got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. K Weaver also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.
Meanwhile, Winchester Community won against Union County on Saturday with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. Everything went the Falcons' way against Muncie Central as they made off with a 13-7 victory. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won four contests by six runs or more so far this season.
McCormac Anderson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, Winchester Community let Landen Porfidio and Tre Weist run wild. Porfidio went 3-for-6 with three RBI and two runs, while Weist went 4-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Porfidio has become a key player for Winchester Community: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Bryce Weigand was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs and one RBI.
Winchester Community was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .432. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Winchester Community's record is now 4-2. As for Knightstown, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Knightstown hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313. However, it's not like Winchester Community struggles in that department as they've averaged .329. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Knightstown's way against Winchester Community in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, as Knightstown made off with a 13-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
