Springtown is 8-2 against the Lions since February of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Springtown Porcupines will head out on the road to face off against the Castleberry Lions at 6:15 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Springtown and 14 for the Lions.
Last Friday, Springtown was the victim of a tough 52-26 defeat at the hands of the Bulls. While losing is never fun, Springtown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 738th, while the Bulls are ranked 170th).
The losing side was boosted by Esther Balado, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 57.7% of Springtown's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Castleberry suffered a rough 42-18 loss at the hands of the Bullfrogs on Friday.
Springtown has not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 18-17 record this season. As for Castleberry, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-23.
Everything came up roses for Springtown against the Lions in their previous meeting back in January as the squad secured a 52-17 victory. With Springtown ahead 31-8 at the half, the match was all but over already.
