Marsh Valley and Bear Lake are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Eagles will be playing at home against the Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Marsh Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.
South Fremont hit Marsh Valley with a five-run second inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 9-7. The Eagles have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Marsh Valley got a big performance out of Lisa Peck, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Mckelle East, who went 3-for-4 with three doubles and one RBI.
While Bear Lake didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Snake River 11-3 on Wednesday. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by eight runs or more this season.
Abby Humpherys and Kambria Romrell did most of the damage at the plate: Humpherys went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Romrell went 4-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those four hits gave Romrell a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyten Crockett, who went 2-for-5 with two doubles and one RBI.
Bear Lake kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Marsh Valley's loss dropped their record down to 2-6-1. As for Bear Lake, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Marsh Valley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Bear Lake struggles in that department as they've averaged .452. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Marsh Valley got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 against Bear Lake by a conclusive 10-4 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
