Basketball Game Preview: Progreso Red Ants vs. IDEA Sports Park Stingrays

The Progreso Red Ants will head out to challenge the IDEA Sports Park Stingrays at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Progreso is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Raymondville on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Progreso might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Raymondville an easy 61-41 victory. The Red Ants have struggled against the Bearkats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Mathew Zuniga, who went 8 of 19 en route to 18 points and five rebounds. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 17 games he's played. Another player making a difference was John Hernandez, who posted 13 points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask IDEA Sports Park). They breezed by IDEA Frontier College Prep to the tune of 75-46 on Tuesday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Stingrays with their most commanding win of the season.

IDEA Sports Park's win bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Progreso, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.

Progreso couldn't quite finish off IDEA Sports Park when the teams last played back in January and fell 55-53. Can Progreso avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
