Basketball Recap: North Gaston Comes Up Short

North Gaston was the 53-49 winner over Stuart W. Cramer when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. The North Gaston Wildcats fell 71-58 to the Stuart W. Cramer Storm on Tuesday. The Wildcats were down 58-35 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the loss, North Gaston still got an impressive performance from Jalen Howard, who went 8 for 19 on his way to 24 points and five rebounds. Howard has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Orlando Rivera was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

Stuart W. Cramer found their leader in sophomore Gavin Jordan, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 15 points along with five assists and three steals. Kingston Womack was another key player, posting nine points and three steals.

North Gaston now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Stuart W. Cramer, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the North Gaston Wildcats face off against the Forestview Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Forestview knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully North Gaston likes a good challenge. As for Stuart W. Cramer, they will head out to face off against South Point at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. South Point will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Stuart W. Cramer surely won't give up without a fight.
