The Muhlenberg County Mustangs are taking a road trip to take on the Ohio County Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Muhlenberg County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against McLean County on Monday as they made off with a 15-0 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Muhlenberg County got a massive performance out of Abry Carver, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Carver a new career-high. Joshlynn Noe also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Muhlenberg County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McLean County only posted an OBP of .100.
Meanwhile, Ohio County had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Raiders. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 10, 2021, but that streak is no more.
The team relied heavily on Talynn Clark (2026), who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily-Kate Hill (2026), who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
The win made it two in a row for Muhlenberg County and bumps their season record up to 6-12. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Ohio County, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-10-1.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Muhlenberg County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .341. However, it's not like Ohio County struggles in that department as they've averaged .324. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
