Even though The Lee Generals scored an imposing 34 points on Friday, the John Battle Trojans still came out on top. John Battle walked away with a 42-34 win over Lee. This was payback for John Battle, who suffered a 61-30 loss the last time these two teams met.
Braxton Emerson had a dynamite game for John Battle, rushing for 198 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.4 yards per carry. Emerson was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 59 yards. Brayden Emerson was another key contributor, rushing for 76 yards and a touchdown on only five carries.
John Battle's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Lee, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
John Battle will head out on the road to face off against Union at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Union presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than John Battle in Virginia (Union is ranked 65th, while John Battle is ranked 262nd). As for Lee, they will be playing at home against Abingdon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
