St. Edward has been on the road for three straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Elba Bluejays at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, St. Edward came up short against Burwell and fell 50-43.
Despite the loss, St. Edward got a solid performance out of Anthony Reader, who scored 25 points along with seven rebounds. Reader scored a full 58.1% of St. Edward's points, the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcos Paez, who scored eight points along with six steals.
Even though they lost, St. Edward were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Elba, who are still winless after their fourth match. Their tough 56-30 defeat to Central Valley on Thursday might stick with them for a while. Elba has not had much luck with Central Valley recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
St. Edward bumped their record down to 1-6 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Elba, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
Everything came up roses for St. Edward against Elba in their previous meeting back in January as the team secured a 54-13 win. With St. Edward ahead 28-8 at the half, the match was all but over already.
