Central Kansas recap October 8, 2013
Smoky Valley added to the longest winning streak in Central Kansas this week by beating Hillsboro, 48-12. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Vikings.
Halstead was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fourth in the league. The Dragons beat Pratt 28-15 earlier in the week.
Kingman's dynamic duo of Mitchell Packard and Brandon Bradshaw proved tough for Hesston to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Packard threw for 45 yards and Bradshaw had 23 yards receiving. Braxton Bangert helped Kingman's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 15 yards.
Ryan Schadler was a force in the backfield as the Swathers beat the Eagles.
Schadler was a passing and rushing force as Hesston topped Kingman.
Hesston's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Swathers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Wyatt McKinney has thrown for 521 yards and 4 touchdowns this season, while Grant Raleigh has 11 catches for 184 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Lyons takes on Smoky Valley. The Lions are currently in third, while Chris Hattabaugh's team is in first.
Sterling took down Ellinwood 48-8 last week, the largest margin of any game.
