Basketball Recap: Southwest Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Southwest had won three straight games and Paris Alaquinez did her part to make it four on Tuesday. The Southwest Dragons secured a 68-63 W over the Southwest Legacy Titans thanks in part to Alaquinez, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 19 points in addition to seven boards and five steals. Her morning made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Zariah Bigham, who posted six points and six rebounds. She is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games.

Southwest is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-16 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.6 points per game. As for Southwest Legacy, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-17.

Southwest and Southwest Legacy could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Southwest (ranked 924th) will meet McCollum (ranked 93rd) at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Southwest Legacy (ranked 978th) will meet Jay (ranked 250th) at 11:30 a.m. on Friday.
