The Big Sandy Red Devils were the 67-60 winner over the McEwen Warriors when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Big Sandy had to suffer through a rough 83-35 loss at the hands of McEwen. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Big Sandy has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Big Sandy lost on Tuesday, one person who can't be blamed is Cole Pierpoint. Despite the final result, he scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Pierpoint set a new season high mark in blocks with three. The team also got some help courtesy of Seth Green, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Big Sandy has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season. As for McEwen, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Big Sandy will take on Waverly Central at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Waverly Central comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for McEwen, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Houston County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Houston County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games.
