After a string of three wins, the McKenzie Tigers's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 63-49 bruising from Shields. McKenzie was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played last Tuesday.
McKenzie's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jay Jackson, who scored 27 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Mcmillian, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Shields' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dante Leffall led the charge by scoring 20 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Leffall has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jalance Kimbrough, who scored eight points along with six assists and three steals.
McKenzie's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Shields, their victory bumped their record up to 11-15.
McKenzie does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Shields will head out on the road to face off against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Georgiana will be looking to keep their 12-game home win streak alive.
