Tellico Plains hasn't had much luck against Greenback recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Tellico Plains is taking a road trip to take on Greenback at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Tellico Plains' pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Hiwassee Dam as Tellico Plains made off with a 10-0 win. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Daren McJunkin was a standout: he scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Ike Hollinghead also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Greenback). They put the hurt on Unaka with a sharp 19-3 win on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cherokees.
Noah Graves and Kolden Williams made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Graves pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Williams pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Graves went 3-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs, while Williams went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most RBI Graves has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Branson Black was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen O'Donnell, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Greenback kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Greenback pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Tellico Plains, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Tellico Plains suffered a grim 17-4 defeat to Greenback in their previous meeting on March 7th. Can Tellico Plains avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
