Softball Recap: Powell County Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Powell County hadn't done well against Jackson City recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Pirates put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 12-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won seven games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Madison Kincaid was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Rison, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.

Powell County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .724. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jackson City only posted an OBP of .421.

Powell County's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-11. As for Jackson City, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Looking ahead, Powell County will be playing at home against Owsley County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates are facing the Owls / Lady Owls at the right time seeing as the Owls / Lady Owls are stuck on a 15-game losing streak. As for Jackson City, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Breathitt County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers will also cruise into their next contest with the timing on their side: the Bobcats will have lost three straight heading into Thursday's matchup.
