Softball Recap: Leakey Has No Trouble Against Bruni

It's playoff time, and Leakey had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on the Bruni Badgers with a sharp 12-3 win on Thursday. Considering the Eagles have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Kaylee Preece was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two triples, and three runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Angela Lopez, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Leakey kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.9 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 9.

Leakey has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Bruni, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.

Coming up, Leakey will challenge Runge on May 2. The Yellowjackets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.33 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. Bruni does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
