Football Recap: Ysleta Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Ysleta put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took down the Austin Panthers 43-28. For the Indians, this counts as revenge for the 36-35 win the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

Ysleta got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Rodrigo Martinez out in front who rushed for 70 yards and three TDs, and also threw for 310 yards and one touchdown while completing 71.4% of his passes. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Martinez a new career-high. Another back making a difference was Martin Castro, who rushed for 104 yards and a pair of scores.

Ysleta's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. They got some further help from Ryan Lopez: he picked up a sack, made nine total tackles, and defended one pass.

Ysleta's record now sits at 5-0. As for Austin, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Coincidentally, Ysleta and Austin will both be playing Fabens the next time they take the field. The Panthers will host the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Indians will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th.
