The Northwood Chargers waltzed into their match Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They breezed by Jordan-Matthews on the road to the tune of 58-13. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Northwood has managed all season.
Northwood got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mikaylah Glover out in front who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for her. Neah Henry was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five steals.
Several Jets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jada Scott, who scored five points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Saniya White, who scored four points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Jordan-Matthews struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Northwood racked up 12 assists.
Northwood pushed their record up to 4-1 with that win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Jordan-Matthews, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northwood will square off against Overhills at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Overhills will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 358th, while Northwood is ranked 69th). As for Jordan-Matthews, they will head out on the road to face off against North Moore at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
