Apple Valley has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Serrano Diamondbacks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Apple Valley will be strutting in after a win while Serrano will be coming in after a defeat.
Apple Valley can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They breezed by Burroughs on the road to the tune of 56-0. The victory was just what Apple Valley needed coming off of a 42-21 loss in their prior game.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 35 points the game before, Serrano were a bit more limited in their match on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 28-7 walloping at the hands of Hesperia. While losing is never fun, Serrano can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 301st, while Hesperia is ranked 125th).
Serrano's loss came about despite a quality game from JJ Kavanaugh, who rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. Kavanaugh's longest rush was for an incredible 87 yards.
Apple Valley's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Serrano, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Apple Valley has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 171.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Serrano struggles in that department as they've been even better at 176.2 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Everything came up roses for Apple Valley against Serrano in their previous matchup back in September of 2022 as the team secured a 50-0 win. Does Apple Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Serrano turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
