The Apex Friendship Patriots suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They were beaten by Panther Creek 68-22. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Apex Friendship has scored all season.
Apex Friendship's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Avery Kiger, who scored 11 points along with three steals. That was a full 50% of Apex Friendship's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Apex Friendship struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
This is the second loss in a row for Apex Friendship and nudges their season record down to 7-6. As for Panther Creek, their victory was their 23rd straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-4.
Apex Friendship's road trip will continue as they head out to face Broughton at 3:00 p.m. on January 15th. Hopefully Broughton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Friday. As for Panther Creek, they will be playing at home against Holly Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Holly Springs will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 425th, while Panther Creek is ranked 22nd).
