Monroe is 5-0 against West Stanly since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Monroe Redhawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the West Stanly Colts at 7:00 p.m. Monroe will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive.
Monroe put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Piedmont 58-0 on the road. Given Monroe's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 17th, while Piedmont is ranked 302nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Monroe relied on the efforts of Kaegan Chambers, who rushed for 22 yards and a touchdown, and Zachariah Melton, who gained 109 total yards and two touchdowns. Gavin Davis got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, West Stanly came up short against Anson on Friday and fell 22-14.
Despite the defeat, West Stanly got a solid performance out of Rene Salazar, who rushed for 137 yards and two touchdowns.
Monroe's victory lifted them to 8-1 while West Stanly's defeat dropped them down to 5-4.
Everything came up roses for Monroe against West Stanly when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 61-0 win. Does Monroe have another victory up their sleeve, or will West Stanly turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
