The Bridgewater-Raritan Panthers are taking a road trip to square off against the West Morris Central Wolfpack at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
Bridgewater-Raritan blew Egg Harbor Township out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Saturday Egg Harbor Township got their revenge. The Panthers fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 8-6. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Kevin Kelly and JR Rosado did some serious damage despite the final result: Kelly went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI, while Rosado went 3-for-4 with one home run. Those RBI marked the first that Kelly has brought in this season. Matthew Lehberger was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
West Morris Central came out on top against Lenape Valley on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run third inning. The Wolfpack were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Patriots. The Wolfpack not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 1st (when they won 10-0).
Luke Jacobsen tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Jake Novello was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Cole Wormann, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
West Morris Central lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since the start of last season.
West Morris Central has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Bridgewater-Raritan, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.
Bridgewater-Raritan couldn't quite get it done against West Morris Central when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 11-7. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
