The Cape Fear Colts will head out to take on the Purnell Swett Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cape Fear's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Purnell Swett's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

McKinley Kolasa made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, Allie Dawson and Amari Adams did most of the damage at the plate: Dawson went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Adams went 2-for-3 with one home run and three runs. Addy Davis was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Cape Fear always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lumberton only posted an OBP of .222.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Purnell Swett's offense. They came up short against Gray's Creek on Friday, falling 10-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Rams have suffered since May 2, 2024.
Purnell Swett saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kam Locklear, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Cape Fear's record is now 9-3. As for Purnell Swett, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
Purnell Swett's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cape Fear has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 13.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Purnell Swett, though, as they've been averaging 10.4 hits. Given Cape Fear's sizable advantage in that area, Purnell Swett will need to find a way to close that gap.
Cape Fear came out on top in a nail-biter against Purnell Swett in their previous meeting on March 7th, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cape Fear since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
