The Hazel Green Trojans lost against the Buckhorn Bucks last Friday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Hazel Green took a 58-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Buckhorn. Hazel Green has not had much luck with Buckhorn recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Hazel Green's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nathan Butterfield, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds. Butterfield also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. Pedro Lazaro was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six assists.
Hazel Green's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Buckhorn, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hazel Green will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Muscle Shoals at 7:00 p.m. on January 2nd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alabama (Muscle Shoals is ranked 33rd, while Hazel Green is ranked 31st). Buckhorn will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lee at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th.
