Even though the Hueytown Golden Gophers scored an imposing 63 points on Monday, the Gardendale Rockets still came out on top. Gardendale took down Hueytown 82-63. For Gardendale, this counts as revenge for the 72-66 loss Hueytown walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November.
Hueytown's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braylon Patton, who scored 21 points. The match was Patton's 15th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trip Harris, who scored 15 points.
Gardendale's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Hueytown, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gardendale will be home for the holidays to greet Calera at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Calera is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses. Hueytown won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Oak Mountain at 4:00 p.m. on December 19th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alabama (Oak Mountain is ranked 58th, while Hueytown is ranked 69th).
