Fryeburg is 0-10 against Greely since May of 2017 but things could change on Monday. The Raiders will host the Rangers at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
If Fryeburg beats Greely with six runs on Monday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Raiders came out on top against Gray-New Gloucester by a score of 6-1 last Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won five in a row.
Brady Chappell looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Fryeburg let Jagger Helwig and Alex Allain run wild. Helwig went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Allain went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Greely got themselves on the board against Gray-New Gloucester on Friday, but Gray-New Gloucester never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over the Patriots. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rangers.
Keeler Vogt made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Vogt was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Gehrig Donnelly looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Greely got a massive performance out of Luke Piper, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Kyle Soule was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
Greely always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gray-New Gloucester only posted an OBP of .118.
Greely's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. Fryeburg has also opened the season with a perfect 2-0 record.
Fryeburg couldn't quite finish off Greely when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
