Softball Game Preview: Reading Memorial Rockets vs. Winchester Red & Black

Reading Memorial has gone 8-2 against Winchester recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Rockets will look to defend their home field against the Red & Black at 4:15 p.m. Reading Memorial is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

While Reading Memorial's victory against Arlington wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rockets narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Spy Ponders 7-5.

Meanwhile, Winchester came up short against Lexington on Monday, falling 13-1. The Red & Black have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Winchester saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carys Gugliotta, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases. Gugliotta is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Reading Memorial pushed their record up to 14-1 with the victory, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Winchester, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.

Everything went Reading Memorial's way against Winchester in their previous matchup back in April, as Reading Memorial made off with a 12-5 victory. Will the Rockets repeat their success, or do the Red & Black have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
