The Canton Little Giants will head out on the road to challenge the PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central Bluejays at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Canton sitting on four straight wins and PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central on 14.
Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Canton beat Limestone 44-40. Given Canton's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while Limestone is ranked 149th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central over Pleasant Plains in every quarter on their way to victory on Wednesday. PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central took down Pleasant Plains 45-27.
PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayce Privia led the charge by scoring 12 points along with five assists. Another player making a difference was Cassie Cox, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Canton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 23-7 record this season. As for PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central, they pushed their record up to 28-1 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home.
