Rincon/University is 1-0 against Sahuarita since September of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Rincon/University Rangers will head out on the road to face off against the Sahuarita Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Rincon/University and six for Sahuarita.
Last Friday, Rincon/University had to suffer through a rough 47-13 loss at the hands of Amphitheater. Rincon/University was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-13.
Although Rincon/University took the loss, they still got scores from Cody Gonzalez-knott and Aundre King.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Sahuarita, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 31-15 loss to Cholla on Friday.
The losing side was boosted by Alden Fox, who picked up 87 receiving yards and a touchdown. Fox's longest reception was for an incredible 75 yards.
The losses dropped Rincon/University to 2-5 and Sahuarita to 1-6.
Rincon/University was able to grind out a solid victory over Sahuarita when the teams last played back in September of 2022, winning 14-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rincon/University since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
