Given Omaha North's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 24th, while Elkhorn South is ranked 131st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Omaha North got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mynor Strong out in front who scored 23 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Dekhi Turner, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Elkhorn South's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aidan Skradis, who scored 26 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Skradis has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Mroczek, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds.
Omaha North's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.1 points per game. As for Elkhorn South, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.
