White Oak had lost three games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 11-10 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the Swansboro Pirates 9-7. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-2 back in March.

Alyssa Carkhuff was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off ten hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Gracie Tompkins was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Jenna Banks was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
As for Swansboro, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss they have suffered since March 25th.
On Swansboro's side, Addison McMillan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and seven unearned) runs on nine hits. McMillan has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Payton Jensen was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-5 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Katherine Cahall, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Coming up, White Oak will be playing at home against Dixon at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Swansboro, they will challenge Croatan at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
