After flying high against the Jubilee Brownsville Titans last Friday, The Arlington Heights Christian Lions came back down to earth. Arlington Heights Christian took a hard 55-37 fall against Benavides on Friday. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Loss or not, Arlington Heights Christian got some senior leadership from Ryan Trevino who gained 283 total yards and two touchdowns and Christopher Newcomer who gained 154 total yards and three touchdowns. Trevino hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for three straight games.
Benavides was led to victory by Matthew Cadena and Shane Ryan. Cadena rushed for 154 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries, while Ryan rushed for 176 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.4 yards per carry. Joshua Garcia was another key contributor, gaining 98 total yards and three touchdowns.
Arlington Heights Christian has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season. As for Benavides, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 5-4.
Arlington Heights Christian will square off against Jubilee at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Jubilee is ranked 192nd, while Arlington Heights Christian is ranked 209th). As for Benavides, they will square off against Faith Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Faith Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 236 points over their last four matches.
