Shallowater has gone 8-2 against Muleshoe recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Mustangs will take on the Mules at 11:00 a.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Muleshoe will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Shallowater extended their winning streak to eight on Tuesday. Everything went the Mustangs' way against Idalou as they made off with a 14-4 win.
Gracie Banks was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Banks was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Shallowater let Aspyn Saiz and Kynsi Sue run wild. Saiz went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double, while Sue went a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those four hits gave Sue a new career-high. Phoenix Navejar was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Shallowater always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Idalou only posted an OBP of .385.
Meanwhile, while Muleshoe put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Dimmitt. The Mules were the clear victors by a 27-0 margin over the Bobcats. The Mules' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Azarah Torres made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Torres was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Adalee Sanchez and Adalie Agundis did most of the damage at the plate: Sanchez went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs, while Agundis went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Melanie Martens, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Shallowater's record now sits at 17-9-1. As for Muleshoe, their record is now 17-7.
Saturday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Shallowater has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .478. However, it's not like Muleshoe struggles in that department as they've averaged .575. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Shallowater skirted past Muleshoe 4-3 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
