The River Dell Golden Hawks had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.2 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. They came out on top against Rutherford by a score of 64-53.
River Dell's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sean Golden, who almost dropped a triple-double on 17 points, 19 rebounds, and nine assists. It was the first time this season that Golden posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Liam Hickey, who scored 18 points.
River Dell has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for Rutherford, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. River Dell's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. Pascack Hills is on a three-game streak of home wins, the Golden Hawks a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Rutherford, they will head out on the road to challenge the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
