The Snow Canyon Warriors were the 58-53 winner over the Dixie Flyers when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Snow Canyon took a 70-54 bruising from Dixie on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Snow Canyon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Dixie is ranked fourth).
Despite the loss, Snow Canyon still got an impressive performance from Owen Mackay, who scored 27 points along with three steals. That was a full 50% of Snow Canyon's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Drey Smith was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.
Dixie got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jordan Roberts out in front who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten assists. Roberts is on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now racked up eight or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyle Lemke, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Snow Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Dixie, their victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Snow Canyon will take on Hurricane at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hurricane is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Dixie, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Desert Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Desert Hills focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight last Friday.
