After flying high against the DeKalb Barons on Tuesday, the Carroll Chargers came back down to earth. Carroll's rough 68-43 loss to Homestead on Friday might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Carroll can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 196th, while Homestead is ranked 15th).
Carroll's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lily George, who scored 15 points along with 8 rebounds. George has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Myers, who scored 15 points along with 6 rebounds.
Carroll has fallen quite a ways from their 16-8 record last season and are now at 2-7. As for Homestead, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.
Carroll will head out on the road to face off against Northridge at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Northridge will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Homestead will take on Notre Dame Academy at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
