There's no place like home for the North Canyon Rattlers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They blew past Metro Tech 75-30 at home. That 75-30 margin sets a new team best for North Canyon this season.
North Canyon had a senior duo take command as Wyatt Mackay dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds and Noah Sowunmi dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds. That makes it 14 consecutive games in which Mackay has scored at least 25% of North Canyon's points. Landri Pinckney was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Despite the defeat, Metro Tech had strong showings from Ace Zambrano, who scored eight points along with five rebounds, and Oswaldo Lopez Vargas, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. That's the first time this season that Lopez Vargas posted two or more blocks.
North Canyon's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-7. As for Metro Tech, they bumped their record down to 2-15 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Sierra Linda the next time they take the court. North Canyon will host Sierra Linda at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Metro Tech will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
