HOBBS, N.M. - the Storm scored 28 points in the second quarter to secure a big 42-0 victory over Hobbs (N.M.) on Saturday.
Cleveland scored on a touchdown run by
Romell Jordan, a Jordan touchdown run, a passing touchdown and a
Kian Homme touchdown pass to Jordan in the quarter.
The lead that CHS took on a rushing touchdown with 7:00 to go in the first quarter stood up for the duration of the game, as neither team managed to score in the second half.
Jordan was the top performer for the Rio Rancho school. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns and caught one touchdown. He has now scored 15 touchdowns on the season.
The Storm came in allowing an average of 24.3 points per game this season.
When the two teams played each other last season, Cleveland came away with a 54-0 victory.
The win was a nice bounce back for CHS, which lost to Sandia last week, 28-7. The defeat comes as a step back for Hobbs, which notched a 16-14 victory over Lovington in its previous outing.
Hobbs (2-6) goes up against Carlsbad in a 5A District 4 game matchup next week, while Cleveland (4-3) locks horns with Cibola in a 5A District 1 game.
