Lutheran took down Arvada 55-20 last week, the largest margin of any game. James Willis threw for 188 yards and three touchdowns and ran for three yards in the win.
The Lions made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,859 from 9,846. The advance stemmed from a 55-20 victory over the Bulldogs last week.
D'Evelyn's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Cody Marvel threw for 218 and three touchdowns and Connor Skelton had 151 yards receiving. On the ground Marvel chipped in 176 yards. Anthony Porreco helped D'Evelyn's passing attack out by catching two balls for 40 yards.
The Jaguars' Marvel and Skelton have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 3A Metro - West in both passing and receiving yards. Marvel has thrown for 1568 yards this season, while Skelton, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 43 catches for 1035 yards. Conifer's Matthew McClintock leads the league in rushing yards with 836.
Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when D'Evelyn takes on Lutheran. Jeremy Bennett's team's offense has racked up 333 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Daryl Moe's team has allowed only 102 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Lions take on the Jaguars. Lutheran is currently in first, while D'Evelyn is in third.
The Lions led 3A Metro - West in scoring this week after putting up 55 points on Arvada. Willis in the win.
