Eagle Rock will square off against Chavez at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Eagle Rock is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They put the hurt on South Gate with a sharp 14-2 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.
Melissa Terrazas was a standout: she fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-3. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Julissa Jimenez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Eagle Rock lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Chavez got themselves on the board against Roosevelt on Wednesday, but Roosevelt never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Rough Riders.
Vida Gomez and Alyssa Anaya did most of the damage at the plate: Gomez went 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and one stolen base, while Anaya went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Jessica Ramos was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Eagle Rock is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Chavez, their win bumped their record up to 13-14.
Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Eagle Rock hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .367. However, it's not like Chavez struggles in that department as they've averaged .369. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Eagle Rock couldn't quite finish off Chavez in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 and fell 10-8. Can Eagle Rock avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
