Albany is 0-4 against Providence Academy since December of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Albany Huskies will be home for the holidays to greet the Providence Academy Lions at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Albany comes in on seven and Providence Academy on 38.
Albany has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 27 points or more this season. They took their matchup on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 66-39 win over Sauk Centre.
Meanwhile, even though Lakeville North scored an imposing 75 points on Friday, Providence Academy still came out on top. Providence Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Lakeville North and snuck past 78-75. Given Providence Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked first, while Lakeville North is ranked 39th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Providence Academy found their leader in underclassman Maddyn Greenway, who scored 40 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. The game was Greenway's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Hope Counts, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Albany's win was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 27.17 points. As for Providence Academy, their win bumped their record up to 8-0.
Things could have been worse for Albany, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 74-60 loss to Providence Academy in their previous matchup back in March. Thankfully for Albany, Grace Counts (who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 16 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
