2A Conference 10 recap November 5, 2013
North Rowan extended the longest winning streak in 2A Conference 10 this week by beating Thomasville, 40-0. This was the team's 10th consecutive win.
The Bulldogs lost to North Rowan 40-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. DJ Spann ran for 34 yards in the loss.
Tyler Grooms was the best receiver in the league this week as West Davidson fell to Salisbury. Grooms racked up 6 receptions for 91 yards. Zach Queen helped West Davidson's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 35 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, the Dragons' Graham Shoaf and Queen have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-9 quarterback Shoaf has thrown for 1,535 yards this season, while Queen has 41 catches for 717 yards. Joe Nixon's team's Jareke Chambers leads the league in rushing yards with 1,444.
West Davidson's Kyle Smith needs only 4 yards against East Davidson next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Smith has rushed for 996 yards on 201 carries so far this year.
As it stands, the Golden Eagles are in second, while Bryan Lingerfelt's team is in third.
East Davidson made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,085 from 7,592. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 17-0 victory over Lexington last week.
