The Niwot Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. The matchup between them and Frederick wasn't particularly close, with Niwot falling 62-45. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Niwot in their matchups with Frederick: they've now lost seven in a row.
Despite the defeat, Niwot had strong showings from Jackson Carano, who scored six points along with nine rebounds, and Rohit Das, who scored ten points along with five rebounds. Das is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Frederick to victory, but perhaps none more so than Marcus Garcia, who scored nine points along with seven steals. Zach Burton was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds.
Niwot's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Frederick, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season.
Niwot will head out on the road to challenge Mountain View at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Niwot will be up against Mountain View's rather soft defense (which has allowed 56.18 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive showing. As for Frederick, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Skyline at 7:00 p.m. on February 8th. Frederick will be up against Skyline's rather soft defense (which has allowed 58.89 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive showing.
