Given Jack Britt's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Pirates are ranked 292nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jack Britt's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zahara Gerald, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Alexia White, who scored 23 points.
Lumberton's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was BreAndrea Glover, who scored 13 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Glover has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabryell Locklear, who scored 15 points.
Jack Britt pushed their record up to 12-4 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for Lumberton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.
Jack Britt will head out on the road to challenge the Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lumberton, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. South View is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.3 points per game this season.
