The Central Eagles suffered their biggest loss since December 15, 2023 on Tuesday. They were beaten by York Prep 61-34. Central has struggled against York Prep recently, as their game on Tuesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Central saw an underclassman step up: Kabreyia Covington dropped a double-double on 14 points and 18 rebounds. Jordyn Griffin was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Even though they lost, Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
York Prep got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gracie Robinson out in front who scored 23 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Robinson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Munsey, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and seven blocks.
Central bumped their record down to 3-13 with that loss, which was their 13th straight at home. As for York Prep, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-7.
Central will be playing in front of their home fans against North Central at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. North Central is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for York Prep, they will head out on the road to take on Andrew Jackson at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Andrew Jackson's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
